Police has made changes in the design and appearance of its certificate of good conduct inorder to limit forgeries.

The new certificate has a number of unique features including a bar code that make it easy to differentiate it from a forged one.

The spokesperson for Interpol Uganda SP. Vincent Ssekate said that the earlier certificate had easily been forged by people.

Issuance of the new certificate started in May 30th 2018.

The certificate issued by Interpol Uganda is signed only by the Director of Interpol unlike the old one which could be signed by any police officer.

The certificate issued also helps police raise revenue from those getting it especially those going abroad for work, those seeking employment with companies and NGOs.

The cost of this certificate is 64,000/=.

Ssekate explained that in the year 2017, Police collected 2,288,880,000/= from those who obtained genuine certificates from Interpol offices.

Now that it has been changed, Uganda Police expects an increase in such revenue, as already 1,244,104,000/ has been collected in the first five months of the year.
