After one of the most competitive footballing seasons of Uganda’s major soccer competitions that is the AZAM premier league and Stanbic Uganda cup, it had to take the character of KCCA fc on its best day to stop the high flying Kitende based Vipers FC from clinching a double this season.
Already crowned champions of the AZAM Premier league, which guarantees them a spot in the Africa champions’ league qualifiers next season, Vipers FC were favorites to clinch a double having knocked out fellow contenders SC Villa and earlier on inflicted damage on the Kasasiro boys KCCA fc during their league eoncounters.
But it took a great cross from fast rising KCCA FC danger man Allan Okello to one Julius Poloto who headed home in the 42nd minute to make the score 1-0 and kill the chances of the Venomous Vipers FC clinching a double this season once and for all.
Not even a red card in the 73rd minute to KCCA FC’s Sadam Juma could stop the Kasasiro boys from clinching a record tenth Uganda cup also popularly known as the Kakungulu cup to equal Express FC’s record.
The defeat inflicted on Vipers FC at the Emokori play ground in Bukedea district earned KCCA a cool 30 million in prize money and a place in the CAF confederations cup while the runners up Vipers fc took home 20 million shillings in prize money.
