The Uganda People’s Defence Forces has received 30 Atego Benz trucks, 06Tele handlers, 01Rough terrain container handler, a bull dozer and 03 Armoured troop carriers from the United States Government.
This was at a function presided over by the Chief Defence Forces (CDF) Gen David Muhoozi at the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre in Jinja.
The CDF thanked the US-Government for its continued partnership with the UPDF and the Republic of Uganda in general.
“African needs a lot of peace mechanism as the continent is still prone to conflicts “he pointed out.
Gen Muhoozi at the same function commended the British Government for initiating this Capability Center .He said that , what started as a dream was turning into reality.
The Gen. pledged to maintain the equipment by providing skilled personnel to manage the fleet.
Handing over the fleet , the US Ambassador to Uganda, Her Excellency Deborah Malaac promised more support to the Republic of Uganda more especially the Defence Forces because of its continued effort to pacify Africa.
“This is one capable force that has handled and maintained peace on this continent “she added.
