Police in Rubanda district is investigating circumstances that led to the sudden death of an American citizen.
The deceased has been identified as Gloria Suemiller, 65, a resident of Oklahoma state, USA.
It’s alleged that Suemiller died on Thursday morning after she was stung by wasps.
Police told journalists that she was stung by wasps on 24/05/18 at around 10:30am local time at Katonvi, Ruhija zone in Bwindi National park in Rubanda district when they went for gorilla trekking. The late was with seven others including her husband identified as White Gary Lynn, 74.
Sources our journalist spoke to say the group had traveled from Kigali Rwanda on Wednesday evening and slept at Ruhija sector, Rubanda district, in south western Uganda. On Thursday morning they decided to go to the park and the victim was ahead of others in the company of park guides.
It’s said that the wasps just attacked her at once in big numbers, leaving her dead as the rest escaped unhurt.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson, Elly Maate Police confirmed the development and said police was notified as soon as possible, who visited the scene with the Police surgeon for a postmortem.
The case is registered with Ruhija police post file number 06/24/05/2018.
