A policeman formerly attached the Flying Squad Unit has been arrested for kidnap.
PC. John Kalume together with his friend whom he identified as Moses Mukiibi are said to have kidnapped Micheal Kisinga alias Skater on Friday evening from Bwaise Growers .
The duo, it is alleged abducted Skater and started demanding two million Uganda shillings for a ransom from his wife.
Kisinga’s wife reported to Kawempe Police Station, and the suspects were arrested from around Bwaise in a tinted van.
Skater was rescued with no ransom paid but also arrested for previous crimes he committed.
Kawempe police has had him on their watchlist for persons wanted in regards to previous crimes of aggregated robbery.
He told police that the duo kidnapped him due to a previous deal gone bad, hence their 2m demand
Police has therefore taken him in detention together with his captors, and they await arraignment before courts next week.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said that police has fully brought on board all teams on the grassroots and other security stakeholders in regards to kidnap occurrences.
“We hope these arrests serve as a reminder that such criminality will not be tolerated in Kampala Metropolitan Area. This investigation demonstrates the metropolitan police’s commitment to tackling these crimes,” he said.
The three suspects are currently detained at Kawempe Police Station pending to be arraigned before courts of law next week.
