New Uganda AIDS Commission members undergo induction training

Addressing the commissioners during the opening of the training, Deborah katuramu the Permanent Secretary in the office of the president who was the chief guest thanked the the outgoing commissioners for working hard towards developing the Uganda AIDS commission and appealed to the new commissioners to work together and achieve the presidential initiative of ending HIV/AIDS by 2030 in Uganda and make it a priority.

Meanwhile In his submission in the workshop Hon. Secretary General of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Haj Ramathan Mugalu who doubles as a member of the commission appealed to Muslims and all stakeholders to work towards government goals for prevention of HIV and AIDS in the country.

In the same way hajji mugalu who was endorsed to represent religious leaders thanked religious leaders for trusting him to be their representative and appealed to them help the president to eradicate AIDS by 2030.

”I thank religious leaders under inter-religious council for endorsing me to represent you but i appeal to you to help the president fulfill his fast-track initiative”, said Mugalu.

On June 6, 2017, His Excellency, President Yoweri Museveni launched the Presidential Fast-Track Initiative to end AIDS as a public health threat in Uganda by 2030.

At the same function, the President also appended his signature on the Presidential commitment to end AIDS in Uganda.

Uganda AIDS Commission is a government body mandated to oversee, plan and coordinate AIDS prevention and control activities throughout Uganda and the body responsible for spearheading the Fast-Track Presidential Initiative to end AIDS .
