The Uganda Police Force have dismissed allegations that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola ordered for the closure of Jinja based Nalufenya Police Detention Facility.

Deputy Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango the decision to close the detention facility was not reached as claimed by some local newspaper.

He says the matter of Nalufenya was discussed in the Police Advisory Committee (PAC) but there was no decision or resolution made on it.

“The Inspector General of Police normally writes his orders and directives but this has not been done . When the decision is taken , it will be communicated in the normal procedure and the media will be informed accordingly,” said Onyango.

“Nalufenya has not been closed as alleged by The New Vision,” he added.
