The first round of the 2017/18 Fufa Women Elite League successfully ended over the weekend with three games played across different grounds.
Western United registered their first win this season with a hard-fought 2-1 win against She Corporate in the game played at Kabwohe playground.
After going six games without a point, Western United defied odds to condemn visiting She Corporate to a 2-1 defeat on Saturday.
A goal apiece from Halima Alishe and Sawuyah “Sanya” Babirye were enough to spur the Mbarara based side to victory despite She Corporate pulling one back through Aisha Nsmubiru.
Despite the win, Western United remained grounded bottom of Victoria group on three points while She Corporate ended the first round in fourth place on six points.
In Elizabeth group, Olila High School Women Football Club ensured they extended their perfect run this season picking the 7th win in as many games.
Airtel FUFA Female player of the year Fazilah Ikwaput struck twice to help Olila defeat Isra Academy 4-1 in the game played in Soroti on Sunday.
This meant, Ikwaput took her goal tally to nine and currently leads the scoring chart. The other goals for Olila came through Norah Alupo and Ritah Nabbosa while Fauziah Najjemba got Isra’s consolation.
Olila ended the first round with maximum points ( 21 in seven games), the only team to attain the feat this season.
On Saturday, Isra Academy had edged Eastern Heroes 1-0 with Najjemba netting the lone strike of the game.
The second round is expected to resume in February next year and the top two teams in either group qualify for the playoff phase to determine the champion.
