Uganda’s High Commissioner in Australia has taken office officially, according to information coming fromCanberra, the capital of the Australia.
A statement released by the Ugandan ministry of foreign affairs, Professor Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda presented her Letters of Credence to the Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Rtd) on 23rdNovember. That occasion indicates that the top envoy to the country has been officially accepted by the friendly country.
Prof Kikafunda was accompanied by High Commission Officials Ms. Carol Lwabi (First Secretary) and Ms. Juliet Okunia (Third Secretary).
During the ceremony at Government House, Professor Kikafunda had a brief discussion on bilateral issues with the Governor General. Sir Peter Cosgrove thanked Uganda for the great role in hosting refugees from the region especially from South Sudan. He also praised Uganda’s role in keeping peace and security in the region especially Somalia.
Sir Cosgrove told Professor Kikafunda that he is keen on Australia investors investing in Uganda, most especially in the Service Sector of Oil and Gas.
On Education, he was happy with the collaboration of some Australian Universities with Uganda Universities and agreed that more could be done.
The Mission organised a Vind’honner Reception at the Chancery in the evening of the same day at which High Commissioners and Ambassadors of African group, officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Ugandan Diaspora attended.
Professor Joyce Kikafunda previously served as Uganda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.?
