Airtel FUFA Awards 2017: As It went down at Speke Resort Munyonyo

The long awaited 2017 Airtel FUFA Awards took place on Friday at Speke Resort, Munyonyo.

There is no doubt that for the past two years, the Airtel FUFA awards have had a great impact on the lives of the various winners and also motivated many to work harder.

For the third year running, the finest footballers in Uganda have been rewarded with the awards, cash and the MVPs drove home in brand new cars.

Here is how the function went down;

6:00 – 7:00 p.m – Arrival of guests, Nominees

7:00 p.m – 9:07 p.m – Dinner

9:08 p.m – First Award was given out by Aggrey Ashaba, the chairperson of KCCA F.C

Dennis Onyango – Fans Favourite player of the year, outside Uganda

9:11 p.m – Second award given out by Darius Mugoye, second Vice President of FUFA

Emmanuel Okwi – Fans Favourite player of the year, based in Uganda

9:15 p.m – Pamela Abonyo, from National Insurance Corporation (NIC) hands over the Beach Soccer Player of the Year  Award to Nasser Lwamunda (Muteesa 1 Royal University)

9:22 p.m: Dr Benard Patrick Ogwel hands over the FUFA Young Referee of the Year

Keneddy Kasadha – FUFA Young Referee of the year

9:30 p.m – Former Uganda Cranes international Andy Lule hands over the fair play award to KCCA Football Club

9:35 p.m – Former FIFA Referee Catherine Adipo hands over the Referee of the Year Award to FIFA Referee Brian Miiro Nsubuga (FUFA Communications Manager, Ahmed Hussein recieved the award on behalf of Miiro)

9:41 p.m – Hon. Minister Owek. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi hands over the FUFA Coach of the Year to Mike Mutebi (KCCA Football Club)

9:50 p.m – Team of the Year is Announced:

Team of the Year: Isma Watenga (Vipers), Nico Wakiro Wadada (Vipers), John Adriko (SC Villa Jogoo), Halid Lwaliwa (Vipers SC), Rashid Toha (Onduparaka), Tadeo Lwanga (SC Villa/Vipers), Gadafi Gadihno (Onduparaka), Muzamiru Mutyaba (KCCA), Geofrey Sserunkuma (KCCA), Emmanuel Okwi (SC Villa Jogoo/ Simba,Tz), Shaban Muhammed (Onduparaka/KCCA)

Coach: Mike Mutebi (KCCA)

10 p.m – Entertainment

10:20 p.m – Speeches

Dennis Mbidde, Chairperson of the Awards Organizing committee

Remmie Kisakye, Head of Brand and Communications at Aitrtel Uganda Limited

10:30 p.m – Entertainment by Irene Ntale

10:50 p.m – Announcement of the fan who sent in the most messages – Harunah Swalleh (He earned 500,000/- and wins a trip with the Uganda Cranes)

10:57 p.m – Speech by the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo

11:00 p.m: FUFA Presidential Award – Muhammod ‘Blatter’ Kalema

11:40 p.m: Airtel FUFA Female Most Valuable Player – Fazilah Ikwaput

11:47 p.m: Airtel FUFA Male Most Valuable Player – Muzamiru Mutyaba

11:55 p.m: MVP’s handed over their cars
