Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has dragged government and Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Frank Mwesigwa to the High Court for denying him permission to stage music shows in Kampala.
Bobi Wine says police is witchhunting him by banning his music shows that they claimed were political.
He cites the Tubonga Naawe artists who, last year held music shows in support of government and particularly President Yoweri Museveni.
Through his lawyers led by Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi,Bobi Wine says police’s refusal for him to stage music concerts in Kampala and Uganda generally is a violation of his constitutional guarantees to the freedom of speech, expression association and right to work.
Early this week, Mwesigwa barred Bobi Wine from staging any show citing that the singer is under investigation.
He said Bobi Wine last Sunday uttered words that were inciting the public during his music show at One Love Beach in Busabala.
Now, the legislator says government should compensate him a whooping sum of shs300million for violating his right to work because he earns a living from music.
