The Common Wealth Secretary General, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland, has had a dialogue with the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon Adolf Mwesige, at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters, Mbuya hill, Kampala.
Scotland, applauded and commended Uganda’s role in the promotion of human rights, payment of keen adherence to the rule of law, the building of democratic institutions, provision of avenues that promote sustainable development and the provision of an enabling environment for civil society to operate.
The Common Wealth Secretary General, lauded Uganda’s role in helping to stabilize regional peace and security. She further briefed Uganda’s delegation on the salient need to promote international peace and stability given the ever changing global economic and terror threats.
Hon Adolf Mwesige, thanked the Common Wealth Secretariat for helping developing countries address their persistent challenges such as extremism, inequality, poverty, climatic change, as well as programs that promote youth empowerment.
The function was graced by the attendance of Uganda’s Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs Hon Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, MODVA/UPDF Under Secretary Edith Buturo, MODVA/UPDF Spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire, among others.
