On Monday, State Minister for Investment Evelyn Anite shockes the nation when she said that in the near future every Ugandan will have to own a UTL SIM card just like having a national ID with the main aim of saving the struggling Telecom company.
However, the minister has come out to defend herself over the statement saying that she was misquoted.
While speaking at UIA Private Equity and venture Capital Conference on Tuesday in Kampala, Anite clarified that her statement was in spirit of ‘ Buy Uganda,Build Uganda’ (BUBU), that if Ugandans were all to own UTL SIM cards, it would be a sign of patriotism and surely would make UTL the biggest Telecom company in the country.
