A group of over 20 Kampala City Landlords led by their Chairman Godfrey Kirumira have today paid a courtesy visit to the Lord Mayor’s Parlor, where they have had an engagement with the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Jennifer Musisi and the Chairman Valuation Court Counsel Asuman Basalirwa.

The stakeholders made this call in a bid to plead to the city management team to extend more time for the valuation court, whose tenure in the Central Business District has elapsed.

On the 17/02/2017, the Kampala Valuation Court membership took oath, with the assignment of handling clients’ queries on valuation of properties.

Since its inception, this Court has handled over 600 petitions, and upon clearing all the pending complaints by the city landlords over high taxes, this Court has wound up its business in the Central Business District, to stretch to other divisions, precisely, Nakawa Division.

Lukwago advised landlords to formally lodge in their petition to the Valuation Court, thereby giving them a sign of relief.

He however cautioned them to try and revise rent rates downwards because, their clients are grinding due to the high rates, moreover some of them charge in dollars.
