Police has finally released 12 children belonging to one of the suspects accused of participating in the killing of former Police spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Today morning, the children were taken to Nagalama Police station where their mothers picked them from.
The release of the children came after their mothers complaining about police which had taken them and had refused to return them back.
Police operatives picked up the children a few weeks ago after arresting their father Abdul Rashid Mbaziira from his home in Mukono district.
Moses Binoga the Coordinator of Anti-Human Trafficking said they have released the children unconditionally but investigations will continue citing that there were reports that the released children were being trafficked to DRC to join ADF rebel group.
Meanwhile, Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson Emilian Kayima urged the media not to report wrong information that the children were in police cells yet they have been under children care department of the police.
“Media shouldn’t report skewed information. These children were not in police cells. They are under children care department of the police,” Kayima said.
