The state minister for privatization and investment Hon. Evelyne Anite has said that the goal of the Ugandan government is to industrialize the country and create employment for Ugandans than importing most of the goods abroad.

Anite said this during a china Uganda economic investment and trade cooperation forum 2017 which was held at Munyonyo common wealth resort hotel today.

Anite who talked on behalf of minister of trade industry and cooperatives Amelia Kyambadde said that the Uganda government gives land to investors at almost no cost which means Ugandans are very supportive towards investors.

“What we are looking at above all is quality infrastructure development to help push our country forward,” Anite said.

She added that they are going to make it expensive for people to import from china but if they are working here, they will offer them some tax exemptions.

Uganda’s ambassador to china, Hon. Crispus Kiyonga thanked the Chinese for the cooperation they show Ugandans who trade with them and also to Uganda as a country.

“To our friends from china, we are ready to work with you and learn from you,” Kiyonga said.

Addition the former Chinese ambassador to South Africa H.E. Mr. Liu Gujin explained the role of Chinese enterprises in the infrastructure development of Uganda’s economic transformation which includes improved agriculture, roads, business enterprises and many others.

“Reduce administrative bottlenecks and make Chinese feel more comfortable,” Gujin said.
