The government of Uganda is set to start monitoring the income and expenditure of churches especially the born again churches.
Fr. Simon Lokodo the state minister of ethics and integrity said that many churches are getting money from illegal activities yet they never give accountability for their money.
Lokodo said that all churches will be giving the government their expenditure and income accountability every month to monitor their activities.
“Some churches are involved in illegal activities like churches and mosques recruit youth in terrorism groups,” Lokodo said.
He added that churches especially born again must get a union that will govern all born again churches like other religions which help them to unite and account for the money very well.
“some pastors are fighting government projects like stopping their flocks for going to hospitals when they fall sick, stopping them from working and some of them even stop them from taking children for immunization, which is bad,”
