Forum for Democratic Change party members have launched a campaign against the amendment of the presidential age limit.
The campaign, dubbed “Time Up At 75” is aimed at President Yoweri Museveni who is supposed to be serving his last term. It comes months after politicians in the ruling party proposed to remove the 75 year limit.
Recently former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye noted that Ugandans will not watch as Museveni manipulates parliament to lift the age limit adding that the time was now for Ugandans to know that Museveni is after life presidency.
On the other hand, Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko revealed that he is leading a group of MPs who are working towards defeating any attempt of amending the constitutes to scrap the presidential age limit.
The 1995 Constitution bars any person above the age of 75years to contest for presidency.
Parliament can lift the restriction on age limit with a two thirds majority, which allows anyone above the age of 75 to contest for presidency.
