Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has overruled the directive given by the executive director of Uganda Communications Commission, Godfrey Mutabazi.
Rugunda has directed the UCC boss that government has resolved to give Ugandans another one month to re-register their SIM cards.
Thousands of people have braved the lines to re-register their SIM cards using their national identity cards as Mutabazi threatened to switch off anyone who does not comply.
PM Rugunda has written to Mutabazi to communicate the new directive that Government has extended deadline to May 19th.
