Flying Squad officers shoot three year old girl dead in Mityana, Kayihura sends team to manhunt suspects

On Monday, four officers belonging to Flying Squad allegedly shot dead a three year old girl identified as Viola Nakuwuka, injured her mother Diana Nabakooza and also injured another resident Ivan Kito in Buluma village, Mityana district.

The murder by shooting and attempting murder are reported to have been committed by suspects named as Sgt. Patrick Ewang, Hassan Mutyaba, PC Mandela Richard and Ivan Chamutai. The four suspects are currently on a run.

According to police, the Flying Squad Policemen named were not acting officially or on official assignment since all of them had already been withdrawn from Mityanaand had no business in the area.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura has sent the Operations Director to Mityana to investigate the matter and hunt down the officers who went into hiding after the incident.

The minor’s mother and Kito who sustained injuries were taken to Mityana Hospital to receive treatment and the Uganda Police Force offered to bear the cost of treatment.
