On Tuesday, a notice was circulated around social media claiming that Police will be conducting a curfew on Tuesday night in Kampala and the its environs arresting every one with no proper identification.
However in a statement dated 21 March, 2017, Police has distanced itself from the notice saying that the messages were circulated on social media platforms by persons wishing to cause discomfort and unrest in Uganda.
“The messages being circulated on social media platforms by person wishing to cause discomfort and unrest in Uganda are false and diversionary,” statement read
“The Uganda Police Force and related security agencies will continue to be vigilant in providing security and maintaining law and order in Uganda,” Police further stated.
