The new UPDF Lands Forces Commander, Maj Gen. Peter Elwelu today arrived in Mogadishu, Somalia for a familiarization visit to the AMISOM Mission camp.

This is the first time Elwelu goes back to Mogadishu ever since his promotion as a Lands forces commander.

Hill Water

Elwelu is remembered for cut staring military teeth by exceeding expectations as a commander of the first Ugandan military contingent deployed to rein the lawlessness in Somalia under the African Union banner.

However, he became famous after his ruthless attack on the Rwenzururu Kingdom in Kasese last year which left more than 100 people dead.

After his successful expedition, Elwelu was promoted from Brigadier to Maj.Gen and also made Commander Lands Forces in the recent UPDF reshuffle.
