The migrations control office in coordination with Uganda Police yesterday rounded and arrested over 30 Chinese without working permits in Kampala.

The arrested Chinese were doing petty businesses in Kikuubo, Arirang Restaurant in Nakasero without proper documents.

Hill Water

After President Yoweri Museveni’s ban on imported used electronics, Chinese cheap products flooded the Ugandan market and this attracted many Chinese hawkers to start up small businesses within the city centre and outside Kampala.

However, many of these Chinese lacked proper immigration documents and have been operating illegally until the Ugandan Parliament passed a law to deport them.
