Ever since Turn the Replay was released earlier this year, it has gained massive success, enjoying airtime in clubs, bars, secular radio stations and televisions.
What most people have not realized though is that the song is a gospel hit by celebrated musician Sam Lucas Lubyogo, popularly known by his stage name Levixone.
The song was produced by Nessim Pan Production of Shot Gun Studio.
That’s beside the point though. Levixone is set to hold a concert aptly titled ‘Turn the Replay Concert’ on November 24 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
Levixone says he has organized the concert to show the public that gospel music can also be fun and interesting. He will perform songs such as Turn the Replay, Mponya, Jungle, Esaala, Noonya omu among others, and will be accompanied by several gospel artistes.
Who is Levixone
Levixone was born on 17th December 1992 and he is the first born in the family of 10 children. Born to Miss Winnie Mutambo, Levixone was raised in Kosovo, a slum in Lubaga Division, Kampala city, where he stayed with his mum and step dad.
He attended St Joseph Mapeera primary school Lusaze for his primary, but later dropped out of school after his step father refused to pay his school fees. Because of the bad conditions at home, Levixone was forced to run from home to streets at the age of 10.
While at the streets, Levixone said that he used to do a lot of casual jobs like garbage collecting, selling water, collecting scrap, brick laying and selling weed.
After three years on the street, life became hard for Levixone as he could spend cold nights without food, proper medical care and clean water.
He made his first move to perform at a gospel crusade just to get money but by the Grace of God, he met people who gave him a hand and changed his life, these included; Crystal Fabulous, Tikitah and Marc Elvis, who adopted and also told him about Jesus Christ.
In 2012, he produced a song dubbed Noonya Omu that brought him to fame. Unlike other artistes who start as gospel musicians but then turn to worldly music, Levixone vowed never to turn his back on Gospel music and God. On Friday morning, He told Spark TV’s Faridah Nakazibwe that he experimented with drugs but realised he was not cut out of them. He also never drinks alcoholic drinks.
Given his background, Levixone has also done charitable concerts like ‘Levixone for Karamoja’ that happened on October 14, 2017 at Uganda Museum. Proceeds from this concert went to building a primary school in Karamoja.
He has also been in charity campaigns like ‘Back to school’ where he provided scholastic materials to children living in slums, and ‘Feed Kosovo’ campaign were he provided food to people living in slums of Kosovo.
Levixone is one of the products that have been made famous by Ugandan legendary music producer, Steve Jean, of Fenon Studios.
