The East African entertainment scene is reeling from a dramatic turn of events as Rwandan socialite and model Sandra Teta has been detained at Kabalagala Police Station following an alleged hit-and-run incident that left her husband, Ugandan reggae and dancehall star Weasel Manizo, critically injured. The incident, which reportedly took place at Shan’s Bar in Kampala, has sent shockwaves through the industry, spotlighting a rare intersection of celebrity glamour and domestic turmoil.Weasel, whose real name is Douglas Mayanja, was rushed to St. Francis Hospital Nsambya, where he awaits surgery for a fractured limb. The musician, a key figure in the legendary Radio & Weasel duo alongside the late Moses Radio (who tragically passed in 2018 after a violent club altercation), has faced more than his share of adversity. This latest incident raises troubling questions about the recurring violence plaguing Uganda’s music scene, particularly within the Goodlyf crew, where Weasel rose to fame.Teta, a former Miss University Rwanda 2014 contestant and itel Brand Ambassador, was apprehended after the altercation, with police investigating her role in the hit-and-run. Known for her vibrant socialite status across East Africa, her detention has left fans stunned. However, human rights reports from the U.S. Department of State (2021-2025) highlight concerning conditions at Kabalagala Police Station, including overcrowding and limited access to basic necessities, casting a shadow over her detention amid the ongoing probe. As Weasel battles for recovery and Teta awaits her fate, the incident has sparked widespread speculation and sympathy online. Industry insiders are calling for support for the ailing artist, while the public awaits further details on this unfolding drama that threatens to redefine the narrative of East African showbiz.
