Leading artistes A Pass, Dr. Hilderman, Spice Diana, comedians Hanington Bugingo and Salvador Idringi are some of the big names that have joined the fight against the recently operationalised social media tax that has gotten many talking and they held a press conference to express their dissatisfaction.
These artistes joined a number of politicians including Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi and Hon Gerald Karuhanga plus others from Uganda young democrats and activists from both the business and NGO sectors to lambaste the newly introduced tax.
Dr Hilderman called it an inconsiderate tax that only benefits those who put it up not the general population while Spice Diana says it is going to have a negative impact on their trade as artistes because most of their fans and business associates have been accessing them through social media.
Comedian Patrick Idringi known by his stage name Salvador labelled our politicans a bigger joke than comedians saying its now them the comedians who are serious while A Pass called the tax day light robbery that must stop reminding the politicians to respect the electorate that gave them power or risk losing the next vote.
In unison they all said this tax must be stopped immediately and among other people present were activist Sanyu Penelope and fire base number two Nubian Li.
