Java House, a café franchise that offers exquisite meals and confectionary in Uganda and the East African region is the latest partner to join the International Children’s Climate Change Conference.
The conference that is aimed at forging local solutions to avert the climate change crisis will bring together over 300 child delegates representing 30 of the top most schools in Uganda to share ideas and discuss how to End Plastic pollution, Restore Wetlands and Protect our Future.
On the same day, the Minister of Environment and the ED of NEMA in partnership with Little Hands Go Green will launch the theme for this year’s World Environment Day 2018 with a pledge to ban the use of kavera in schools.
“Children are the future. Our environment is our future too. Therefore As Java house we are glad to be part of this Conference not only from a CSR point of view but it is also our responsibility to appreciate efforts of the children in ensuring a greener future for us all. Besides we will be providing coffee to the parents of these children who are our primary customers today but also giving hot chocolate to the kids who are our customers of the future.” said Mr Charles Wanjohi the Operations Manager Java House Uganda.
On his part the NEMA Executive Director Dr Tom Okurut when contacted for a comment thanked Little Hands Go Green for their consistency in driving the message of environmental conservation among the children and pledged that NEMA will stop at nothing to ensure enforcement of the Kavera ban.
Earth Day is celebrated on 22nd of April worldwide will and Little Hands Go Green will once again host the Ugandan celebrations with a children’s climate change conference at the Ntinda School of the Deaf. Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green a civil society organization whose main mandate is environment conservation education and activism with emphasis on young children. The theme for the 2018 conference is “End Plastic Pollution, Restore Wetlands, Restore Nature – Protect our Future”
The purpose of the conference is:
- To bring environmental conservation education to the forefront of this war on climate change.
- To instill a sense of environmental stewardship among the children
- To showcase the efforts of Ugandan Children in planting trees as the first step in showing ownership of our environment.
Delegates in attendance will be from both local and international schools and will be joined by delegates from Otim Tom school representing Northern Uganda, Royal Primary school representing South Western Uganda and Mother Mary Primary School representing Rwanda’s Little Hands Go Green and Olive Tree Montessori representing Kenya’s Little Hands Go Green
