Ugandan government is set to promote locally produced foods on the East African market through Mubende Kyegegwa Kibale Producers and Marketing Association which has launched the campaign in Mubende district today.
Kamuntu Mugume, Mubende kyegegwe Kibale producers and marketing association coordinator said that this campaign is set to help farmers get the suitable amount of money from their products through setting a standard price for every product.
Mugume added that farmers face a lot of challenges like lack of market for their goods also some farmers keep selling at low prices which leads to losses to some other farmers.
“We are going to help farmers to insure their crops and we have finished partnering with UAP insurance Uganda which is going to start insuring the farmers crops in order to eliminate losses incurring due to natural calamities like floods and drought,” Said Mugume.
He added that they are going to start supplying treated seeds to the farmers with good pesticides to increase on the yields produced.
