Netball World Cup: She Cranes face South Africa with motivation to challenge

Peace Proscovia, the She Cranes Captain has revealed that the team is more than motivated to challenge anyone that comes their way as they continue their challenge at the Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England.

The She Cranes picked up a hard fought 57-54 victory over Trinidad and Tobago at the M&S Bank Arena in their opening match in group G after qualifying from the preliminary round in Group D.

Also, Proscovia picked up the man of the match award for her performance on the evening.

This was the She Cranes’ third win in a row at the World Cup following their opening day defeat to hosts England. They however, recovered well to win over Samoa and Scotland in their preliminary Group D matches to qualify for this round.

Proscovia also hailed her teammates for the explosive performance that saw them overcome the 1979 Netball World champions.

“It was a hard-fought win and I thank my teammates for the performance against a brilliant side.”

Now she believes the victory will do as much to lift the mood in She Cranes camp as they prepare to face off against African rivals, South Africa on Wednesday, a side they have not beaten since 2009.

“This is a great result for us heading into the game against South Africa a side we have not beaten since 2009. The girls are strong, motivated and ready to challenge against anyone in the competition,” stated the Goal Shooter.

A win for Uganda will do much in helping them get closer to qualifying for the semi-finals but they still have to face England, Jamaica and Scotland in Group G before that dream can come to fruition.

The top two teams in the will qualify for the semi-finals, while the remaining four will contest matches to determine their overall placing (5th-12th) depending on their finishing position in Group G.
