Uganda Premier League bottom side Paidha Black Angels have parted ways with head coach Charles ‘Kadidi’ Ssenyange after just three months in charge.
Ssenyange was the third coach at the Zombo based club this term after Richard Tamale Kiwanuka, who took over the reins at the club at the start of the season. Kiwanuka threw in the towel under unclear circumstances to be replaced by assistant Muhamad Kisekka before he was suspended by the club under match fixing claims.
The reason behind the former KCCA player’s sacking however was not fronted to the media but it is alleged that his approach and failure to turn around the club’s results were top of the list.
With only a 2-0 win over Nyamityobora the only positive result he registered, Paidha Black Angels has blown cold under his tutelage with 4-2 loss to Police at the Startimes Stadium that arrived after a dismal 2-0 home loss to URA.
Ssenyange who boasts of coaching experience in South Africa seemed to be out of his depth even with the seemingly low demands of Paidha as his training regimes and strict disciplinary antics became unfamiliar with many of the players in the squad.
Sources close to the club claim the coach had ‘rudimentary techniques’ like waking the players up as early as 5 AM for training even on match days plus always confiscating player’s phones and cutting off communication with their families every time they enter camp.
But the coach later revealed that his bosses were not satisfied with his efforts towards building Paidha and their survival campaign, stating that he wishes nothing but good for the West Nile side.
“It is true I am no longer the coach of Paidha Black Angels. I have been told by my bosses that following unpleasing results they cannot continue working with me but all I can do is wishing the club all the best,” he is quoted as saying.
Generally, the bottom placed side has struggled administratively as players have gone for months minus pay plus the sorry state of player’s welfare. Recently, club public relations officer Steven Olweny resigned his role at the club for greener pastures with a Christian organization.
No replacement has been named yet but sources claim that big league side Kitara FC coach Anthony Ssekitto is leading the list of possible replacements.
The Blacks are currently lying 16th on the log having only managed to collect 12 points with only six games left to play. Paidha next face Express FC in Wankulukuku on April 2, 2019.
