Unlike organisations, it is not an everyday business that a citizen hires a full newspaper page to congratulate the country’s fountain of honour upon achieving something.
But Balaam Barugahara can.
On NRM Liberation Day last Saturday, the events promoter paid for a full page in Red Pepper newspaper to congratulate President Yoweri Museveni and the ruling party for making 33 years in power.
The congratulatory message was okay until he mentioned a wrong year for the next general election.
“Balaam-33rd anniversary congratulates HE Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the entire NRMO for the achievements so far we need more from you. Should you fail to stand in 2022 we may use law to force you back by the order of court,” the message read.
Could it be that the businessman has really enjoyed the current leadership to the extent of giving President Museveni a bonus year? The next general elections are slated for 2021.
Balaam is a renowned NRM diehard and on several occasions he has scooped juicy entertainment deals from State House.
Most notably, he is the man behind Museveni’s musical ‘career’.
