Police in Rubanda District have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly murdering a 53-year-old.
The suspect, Paul Mubangizi, allegedly murdered Callist Ahurwendeire, both of Ndego village, Kashasha parish, Ikumba sub county in Rubanda district.
It’s alleged that on Monday , October 15 at around 9 pm while at Ndego, the two are said to have developed a quarrel after drinking and fought leading to Ahurwendeire’s death.
It’s alleged that when the angry residents realized one had died, they burnt three houses in the area to ashes.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson confirmed the news and said that Police was notified and it swung into action, arresting the suspect.
“We dispersed angry residents and prevented more damages,” Maate said.
This case has been registered at Rubanda police under file number CRB 701/2018.
