Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has today kicked off the construction of a new structure for the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute Jinja in a bid to revamp and expand the facility.
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony, UTB Executive Director Stephen Asiimwe said they are optimistic that the expansion of the training facility will lead to hands on training of highly skilled and competent work force for both the national and international hospitality sector.
Apparently, the new structure is going to be the first ever 50 bedroom hotel and training Institute that will be built without shutting down the existing facility.
Mark Koehler, the Managing Director of Roko Construction said, “We shall perform beyond expectation to deliver this project in the right quality and within a period of 12 months,”
Gideon Badagawa Executive Director of Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) revealed the re-development of the facility is a sub component of Tourism competitiveness development of CEDP aimed at skilling the sector of labour force, revamp, and equip Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute to meet world class standards.
On the other hand, Tourism Minister Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute must aim at being the leading tourism training institute as well as have a quality curriculum to train competitive human resource.
