NUP’s Waiswa Mocks Gen. Muhoozi over “failed” Presidential ambitions

In what can only be described as a twist of political fate, Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, the outspoken deputy spokesperson of the National Unity Platform (NUP), is having the last laugh. After years of jabbing at General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s presidential ambitions, Waiswa couldn’t help but chuckle when news broke that Muhoozi had pulled out of the 2026 presidential race.

In a now-viral video from a recent radio interview, Waiswa gave a jab-by-jab analysis of Muhoozi’s dramatic exit from the race. The man who’s never shied away from speaking his mind didn’t hold back. “You can’t start a leadership campaign with birthday parties, especially when you’re hitting 50!” he exclaimed, a comment aimed directly at the grand celebrations that marked Muhoozi’s past birthdays.

According to Waiswa, Muhoozi’s retreat from the race was as inevitable as a rainstorm in Kampala during rush hour. “I saw it coming. You can’t promise Ugandans cake when they’ve been starving for 40 years,” he said, taking a jab at Muhoozi’s father, President Museveni. Waiswa argued that Uganda needs more than just party favors and empty promises. “Pills? Ugandans need policies, not paracetamol!”

Waiswa didn’t stop there. He further questioned Muhoozi’s leadership credentials, or lack thereof. “The man has no leadership track record. From school to the army, his resume is as blank as his father’s promises!” Waiswa said, adding with a grin, “He thought food would make Ugandans fall for him?” “Project emekwama!” He said, meaning “the project has failed!’

But the real kicker came when Muhoozi, who has often boasted about not letting a civilian run Uganda, was put in his place. Waiswa had this to say: “He’s not even that well trained! He didn’t go through the proper military drills. So, who’s he to talk about who should lead Uganda? His words are lighter than a balloon filled with hot air.”

As the interview ended, one thing was clear: Waiswa is laughing the loudest, and with Muhoozi out of the race, his jabs have landed right on target. Whether or not Ugandans are buying Waiswa’s humor, its evideny that he’s making politics in Uganda a lot more entertaining!
