President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has extended financial support to 524 market vendors in Bombo, Luwero District.

The business booster package was delivered to the market vendors on Tuesday 24th October 2023 by officials from State House led by Ms. Flora Kabibi.

The 524 beneficiaries who operate from the roadside markets of Bombo Mile 20 and Nanywa, mainly sell fruits, vegetables, among other foodstuffs. Each vendor received Shs100,000.

Ms. Kabibi informed the vendors that President Museveni decided to directly support them financially in order to help them sustain their businesses so that they are able to stabilise their household incomes.

“As you wait to benefit from other government development programs such as Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, H.E the President has decided to first support you directly. He wants to break that vicious cycle of poverty among our families,” she noted.

Ms. Kabibi further urged the vendors to fight the immoral acts that are eating up families and also encouraged them to groom their children into responsible citizens who will be able to add a brick on the development of the country.

“I also want to thank the State House Comptroller, Ms. Jane Barekye and the Senior Presidential Advisor In-charge of Political Mobilisation, Mr. Moses Byaruhanga for being the connecting bridge between the President and the local people,” she added.

Mr. Muhammad Jjogo, the Chairperson of Bombo Mile 20 Market expressed his sincere gratitude towards the President for extending a direct helping hand to them as ordinary Ugandans.

“Thank you for delivering this financial package as promised. I advise the vendors to put the money into proper use and add value to their merchandise to attract more customers as the President advised in his national address sometime back,” Mr. Jjogo said.

Mr. Ponsiano Kamya, the Chairperson of Nanywa Market also lauded President Museveni for fulfilling his promise.

“My fellow vendors and I are very happy because the President has boosted our businesses with financial support. The vendors have been badly off financially and now he has put a smile on our faces,” Mr. Kamya asserted.

Mr. Fred Ssemaganda, a plantain (Ggonja) vendor at Bombo Mile 20 market also commended President Museveni for the direct financial intervention.

“I have seven siblings and I am the breadwinner; the business booster is a blessing that I didn’t expect. I am going to stock more merchandise today so that the money given to me does not go to waste,” Mr. Ssemaganda said.

On the other hand, Ms. Beatrice Nankya, a vendor at Nanywa Market thanked President Museveni for supporting her business financially.
