4 children killed on spot in Sembabule accident

The traffic police at Kabango in Sembabule Town Council, Sembabule District on Saturday 16.07.2022, registered a fatal accident involving Motor vehicle UBG 517L (a Toyota Wish) which was coming from Gomba road heading to Sembabule town, that knocked eight female juveniles, killing four on spot, and seriously injuring other four.

An Eye witness accounts that the driver abandonee the vehicle at the accident scene.

Police has since identified the deceased as Namata winnie, Nalubega Joan , Babirye slivia, Nabadda Macklin, all aged 13 years while those injured are; Nanyonga Molly aged 12 years, Nabayego Nowelin aged 12yrs, Ndagire Christine aged 14 years and another an unidentified victim, all of them are resident of Kyabi Trading Centre. The injured are at the different health centres for treatment.

Southern Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Muhammad Nsubuga attributed the fatal crash to over-speeding.

According to Nsubuga, the Police are currently hunting for the car driver who is on the run but one person who was found in the car, Musa Amisi, was arrested.

The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Sembabule health center IV mortuary for post-mortem examination while the wreckage of the vehicle was towed by traffic police to Sembabule central police station.
