The LCV Chairpersons from Greater Kabale District have jointly asked the State Minister of general duties in the Ministry of Finance Henry Musasizi Ariganyira to help in increment of the road funds allocated to the region.

Kabale District LC V Chairperson Nelson Nshangabasheija, Rubanda District LC.5 Chairperson Stephen Kasyaba, and Rukiga District Chairperson Mbabazi Robert presented there requests to the minister yesterday, in a meeting at his office in Kampala.

The Chairmen requested Government through Minister Musasizi , among others to increase Funds for;
Infrastructure Development especially roads and school building constructions, None Wage and Unconditional Grants to spend on Prority Development Programs, and the District Dicretionary Equalization Grant – DDEG.

While speaking to our reporter in a phone interview, Rubanda District chairman Stephen Kasyaba said their major plea was focussed on the road fund to meet the costs of re-novatting roads which are usually affected by the rains and other natural occurrences given the nature of the terrain in Kigezi, particularly Greater Kabale.

Kasyaba said they also discussed other development areas like the implementation of Parish Development Model, a government program intended to transform about 35% Ugandans from subsistence to Money economy.

“We also discussed how to ensure increment in income generation for our people, especially the the parish development model in line with President museveni’s vision to uplift the livelihoods of all Ugandans from lower to middle income status,” said Kasyaba.

In response Musasizi who is also the Rubanda East MP pledged to ensure that their pleas are considered on the National cake sharing. Musasizi also revealed that they discussed among other issues, fast tracking implementation of the NRM Manifesto at District level, and cooperation of leaders at regional level.

“It is good for the leaders at different levels to share on the progress and also the challenges affecting the areas we lead because the challenges affecting the region are cross cutting” Musasizi said.
