Police Officers at Kira Road Police Station have arrested a one Deborah Apolot for assaulting her 10 year old son.
Apolot was on Monday caught on camera beating her son Mark Omiat and the video has since gone viral.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspect was arrested on Monday (yesterday) at 9pm.
“Apolot alleges that yesterday in the morning she gave Shs5,000 to her child to buy grocery at the shop.She said the boy didn’t return at home.She said , she looked for the child and found him before taking him home,” Owoyesigyire said in a statement on Tuesday.
” She admitted beating her son as a punishment for misbehaviour.”
Owoyesigyire added that the incident was captured on camera by the neighbours, who later informed the police.
“The victim sustained serious injuries and he is receiving treatment.The victim’s mother will be charged with child torture.”
