Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which a 38 year old man was beaten and died instantly.
The decease has been identified as Alex Gumoshabe a resident of Rwakiriba Village Kashaayo Parish Bugangari Subcounty, Rujumbura County, Rukungiri district.
It’s alleged that about five months ago one Katurebe Julius died leaving behind a widow, a one Kyomugisha Emily and a number of orphans.
On Friday last week, the widow who had been in love with the deceased (Gumoshabe) hosted him at around 5pm, which annoyed one of her sons identified as Turinawe Tofayo.
Out of annoyance, Turinawe picked a piece of timber started beating both the deceased and his mother.
The mother (Emily) managed to escape but the deceased was beaten into coma and left for the dead, till the morning of 16th April 2022 when he was picked and taken to Nyakibaale hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate,police was informed, case of murder registered, and when a team of security visited the scene ,they discovered that angry residents had demolished the home of Emily and the entire family members had fled the village.
