Police in Kibuku district have arrested a man with mental illness for killing his two step brothers.

The suspect, whose identity has been withheld reportedly killed 12-year-old Zaidi Oboi and 5-year-old Ismail Okwan, both residents of Buguna village in Sala Parish in Tirinyi Sub-county in Kibuku District.

The deceased are children of Ismail Waliku Lilayina and Lydia Nyalema. According to police, the incident happened around 9:00 pm on Tuesday.

The suspect reportedly fought his stepmother before he turned his anger on his siblings.

He reportedly hit one of the victims on the floor and the other on the rock killing them instantly.

Immaculate Alaso, the Bukedi North Police Spokesperson, says that residents responded to the incident and managed to tie the suspect before handing him over to the police.

She said the suspect is locked up at Kibuku Police station while the deceased’s bodies are lying at Kibuku health center IV pending a postmortem.
