Parliament will return to work on Thursday, two days after it’s suspension following the deadly double bomb blasts in Kampala city centre.
Parliament was suspended on Tuesday following two separate bomb explosions in the city which left at least seven people dead (3 suicide bombers inclusive) while over 30 survived with grave injuries.
In a notice to members, signed by the Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige Kasaija, members have been summoned to return to work on Thursday.
“This is to give you notice that Parliament of Uganda will resume plenary sitting with effect from tomorrow Thursday 18 November 2021, commencing at 2:00 pm.” Reads the notice in part.
The announcement comes at a time when intelligence-driven reports have maintained that the Legislative Assembly is one of the key government installations said to be key targets for the terrorists.
Meanwhile, Kampala enjoyed a relatively calm atmosphere on Wednesday with business returning to normal after a largely turbulent Tuesday.
Traffic in the city went on as usual with city streets buzzing with businesses once again.
