No double fees payment when schools reopen- Minister Muyingo assures parents

The State Minister for Higher education John Chrysestom Muyingo has assured parents who had already paid fees that they will not pay again when schools reopen.

While addressing journalists on Tuesday, Muyingo said unlike last time where all parents paid school fees twice, this time round only those whose children had not cleared school fees will pay but those who have zero balance will continue from where they stopped.

“I want to assure all parents who had cleared all school fees before this second school closure that they will not pay anything in the next term. Unless when the school was still demanding you,” he said. Muyingo further assured parents not to worry and asked them to encourage children to revise while at home.

When schools were reopened after the first closure, the government promised to give Shs20bn and Shs2trillions to teachers and school owners respectively as stimulus package. However, the second closure has found them when the promise hasn’t been fulfilled.

Nevertheless, Muyingo assured both school owners and teachers that soon their money will be released.

“All the criteria we needed are done and we are now planning how that money will reach the beneficiaries. I want to assure them that they will get that money.”
