Former Judiciary permanent secretary, Kagole Expedito Kivumbi has died.

This has been revealed by the Judiciary Spokesperson Solomon Muyita.

Muyita noted that Kivumbi died from Le Memorial Medical Services in Lubowa where he had been admitted seven days ago.

“The Judiciary with deep sorrow announces the sudden death of its immediate former Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Mr Kagole Expedito Kivumbi, which has just occurred at Le Memorial Medical Services at Kitiko-Lubowa, Kigo Road,” Muyita said in a statement on Sunday.

“The Judiciary is working closely with the family to coordinate the funeral arrangements, and they’ll be communicated subsequently,” he added.

Kivumbi was sent on forced leave by the head of Public Service, Dr John Mitala on July 26, 2019, while acting on the directives of President Museveni as the appointing authority.

He had been accused of financial impropriety amounting to Shs34 billion meant for Judiciary activities.

The forced leave was meant to pave way for investigations by the Inspectorate of Government (IGG).

However, presiding judge Musa Ssekaana, in his ruling in 2020, held that the forced leave against Kivumbu was in the initial stages justified but it became  illegal for being indefinite as it had no timeframe.
