Former Works and Transport Minister Gen Edward Katumba Wamala has left Medipal International Hospital in Kololo to attend his slain daughter’s funeral prayers that are currently taking place at the former’s home in Najjera.

Gen Katumba who still has a bullet in his body was on Tuesday attacked by armed assailants moving on two motorcycles. They shot over 50 bullets on his car.

The former army chief survived with bullet injuries. Unfortunately, the strike left his daughter Brenda Nantongo Katumba and driver Haruna Kayondo dead.

The incident took place along Kisota road in Kisaasi, a city suburb.

Brenda will be buried on Thursday at her ancestral home at Kikandwa, Mukono at 2pm.

In his statement issued on Wednesday, Gen Katumba told Ugandans that last evening he had a surgery and one bullet was removed. He however added that because of how the other bullet affected his arteries, it was not removed, and the doctors will advise on the way forward.‬

Nevertheless, he reassured that his injuries are not alarming and that he will be fine.

The former Police Chief also prayed to God that he hopes one day one, the terrorists who tried to assassinate him and took lives of his daughter and driver will be brought to book.
