Kyadondo East MP- elect Muwada Nkunyingi has described the current attempts to evict Bobi Wine from his Magere residence as a regime orchestrated plot to divert Ugandans from the real issues affecting them.

Early this week, a woman claiming ownership over land occupied by more than 2000 residents including Bobi Wine real name Robert Kyagulanyi came out threatening legal redress to regain her land.

And now, Nkunyingi says this move is just part of a string of others aimed at persecuting his Kyadondo East predecessor over his role in fighting to cause regime change. He further argues that Kyagulanyi’s participation in this year’s presidential elections is the major cause of all his wars eventhough he broke no law.

He says that despite his master contesting, winning but getting robbed of victory in this year’s election, “the regime is now opting for further diversions and protracted economic, physical & penal sanctions against Hon Kyagulanyi.”

Nkunyingi likens the attack on Magere to the arrest of Bobi Wine’s campaign team last year, many of whom remain held up in different prison facilities. He says that in a similar manner, Bobi Wine’s Kasangati neighbors are being bundled up with him as a cover-up to their sister plot against the opposition leader.

“The way the regime targeted & detained all his close campaign team to date, they are now tactfully congesting Magere residents & neighbourhood with unsubstantiated land claims against your precise and legitimately held property/ land rights,” Nkunyingi wrote.

“The move that saw People Power & subsequently NUP triggered dozens of cases claiming his Kamwokya land, Busabala Beach etc ,his campaign triggered confiscation of various items including motor vehicles, in ending house arrest, Magere became a barracks of unknown militias majority in uniformed, military cameras installed up to his gate, etc.The now intentionally trended claim against Magere land ownership though outrightly untrue , is obvious regime attempt, to divert his efforts, and divert public discourse from pertinent issues affecting our nation and our people.”

As area Member of Parliament, Nkunyingi says that his thorough check on the ownership of the contested land clearly indicates that majority of the residents are legally registered proprietors and a few lawful and bonafide occupants.

“There is no way a sound land officer would at any one time issue any other title for 640 Acres, in town like Kasangati Town Council to any other person. Hundreds of Titles already exist owned by different persons. Even those without titles have since attained the lawful & bonafide proprietorship as provided by law, ” he says.
