President Yoweri Museveni will beat his challengers with a huge margin, says an aide on reading poll research results from Afrobarometer.

Afrobarometer have predicted victory for incumbent President Museveni, and his ruling party the National Resistance Movement likely to carry Parliament once again.

However, Faruk Kirunda, a presidential assistant on media management disagrees with the findings, released a day to polling day.

“Our own research show our candidate is winning with a landslide. It cannot be less than 65%, even if opposition rig or scare our supporters like they want to do,” Mr Kirunda who is overseeing vote protection for NRM and President Museveni, told this website.

Afrobarometer research shows Museveni beating his closest challengers Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine with more than 30%, an incredibly huge margin, considering crowds the National Unity Platform candidate has been attracting during his rallies, a move which earned him rebuke from covid-19 pandemic controllers.

The poll samples show Museveni beating Kyagulanyi in all sampled segments including urban and, rural settings. As well as in age segments 18 to 35 and 36 to 55, and 55 and above.

When it comes to voting intention among registered voters, Museveni is expected to win with 53% while Bobi Wine is likely to score only 18%. A big number of people refused to respond to the poll, amounting to 22%. Those that said would vote for other parties came at 5%.
