Uganda Police have said that they have received information that some people are taking advantage of curfew to organize house parties.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, some people stock their drinks early and invite their friends for house parties on weekends.
He disclosed that Police will this weekend conduct operations where they will arrest whoever is found hosting a house party.
“Then they leave at 6:30am to go home. This weekend we are ready for the patrols. No more house parties,” said Onyango in a statement on Friday.
A few weeks ago, Uganda started on the phase of easing lockdown but bars and clubs are yet to be opened due to fear of pulling crowds that might accelerate the spread of coronavirus.
To date, Uganda has 833 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Additionally, 761 people have been so far discharged after recovering from the deadly virus. No single COVID-19-related death has been registered in the country.
