Kigali has blocked Catholic Pilgrims from Kisoro District who intended to trek to Kibeho have been blocked by Rwandan Authorities and are stranded at Cyanika Border. They were denied entry on Thursday evening.
Catholics all over the world every year trek to Kibeho in Rwanda for pilgrimage. Some walk on foot while others use motor vehicles like buses. At Kibeho they Pray, worship, ask for forgiveness and draw holy water.
Christians who talked to our reporter expressed disappointment but said nothing they can do as it comes as God’s plan. They’ve vowed to continue to pray for tensions between the two countries to cease.
Rwanda closed her borders with Uganda in February this year accusing Kampala of hosting and aiding her enemies.
ABOUT KIBEHO:
Kibeho is a small town in south Rwanda, which became known outside of that country because of reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ occurring between 1981 and 1989.
It is also known for the Kibeho Massacre, in April 1995, where several thousand internally displaced people were killed by the Rwandan Patriotic Army.
