The Uganda Police have in custody a one John Bosco Mugisha alias Mukiga for the murder of Derrick Mulindwa.
Mulindwa, a boda boda rider also a resident of Nabweru, Nansana Municipality was last month gruesomely murdered by two killers who later took off with his motorcycle. The scene was captured by a CCTV camera.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday night at Nsiike 1, Ndeeba Rubaga Division in Kampala after a tip off.
In a statement issued on July 17, 2019, Onyango revealed that Mugisha confessed that he is the one in the video with his colleague called Young Mulo (not the musician).
“He confessed that Young Mulo was killed by a mob on July 3, 2019 on suspicion that they had stolen a motorcycle,” the police mouthpiece said.
“Mugisha admits that they had just robbed another motorcycle from Mityana on July 2, 2019 and were traced up to Makindye in Kampala, where the mob killed his colleague. Mugisha alleges that he escaped that day and went to Kabale.”
Onyango further says Mugisha has been arrested several times and he has been to Luzira Prison many times on robbery cases.
The suspect is currently detained at Katwe Police Station pending transfer to Old Kampala Police Station.
“He will be charged with murder and aggravated robbery,” Onyango stated.
