The state minister for planning in the ministry of finance, David Bahati has called for schools to have strong values that will groom children to being better citizens of the country in future.

“Strong values of honesty, integrity and patriotism breed into better future citizens of the country,” Minister Bahati said on Sunday.

He was speaking as guest of honor at St. Maria Goretti Nursery and Primary School Rushoroza, Kabale Municipality during a fundraising ceremony towards the construction of the three Shs3billion storied buildings.

According to Bahati, children can only be nurtured to become good and patriotic citizens when they are still young.

At the function, the Rubanda East legislator Henry Musasizi thanked Kabale Diocese for starting up schools in Kigezi sub region that have produced good citizens of the country.

The diocese owns a number of schools such as St. Mary’s College Rushoroza, St Paul’s Seminary Rushoroza, Immaculate Girls School Nyakibare, St Gerald’s Secondary School in Rukungiri, St. Paul’s Mutolere Secondary in Kisoro among other bigger schools from Kigezi sub region.

The Kabale Woman Member of Parliament Catherine Ndamira Atwakire advised head teachers to always serve instead of working for money because this would drive the schools to doom.

At least Shs43 million was raised towards the construction of the storied building.
